Evergreen, NC

Mr. Robert “Bob” Meares, age 70, of Princess Ann Road, Evergreen, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.  Born September 22, 1945 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Marion Taft Meares and Allie Ward Meares and the widower of Geraldine Fowler Meares.

He is survived by two daughters: Lynn McPherson (Gary Dean) of Evergreen, Jennifer Floyd (Page) of Fair Bluff; one brother: Jerry Meares of Whiteville; five sisters: Irene Hinson of High Point, Christine Lois Rasberry of Whiteville, Eugondia Simmons of Tabor City, Katherine Soles of Chadbourn, Nancy Fowler of Whiteville; and six grandchildren: Chandler Floyd, Leah Floyd, Wyatt McPherson, Alexis McPherson, Hailey McPherson, and Brittney McPherson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter; one brother: Earl Meares; and one sister: Doris Fowler.

Mr. Meares was a retired Veteran of the United States Navy.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2 PM in the Tabor City Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
