Clarendon, NC

Mr. Arthur Milton Godwin Jr., age 79, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, Whiteville. Born October 26, 1936 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Arthur Milton Godwin, Sr. and Helen Duncan Godwin and the widower of Meriam Soles Godwin.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Webber of Clarendon, Cynthia Godwin of Clarendon; two sons, Arthur Milton “Buddy” Godwin III of Clarendon, Ricky Godwin of Clarendon; one brother, Junior Godwin of Clarendon; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe Godwin, Auty Godwin, J.W. Godwin, Bobby Godwin; and six sisters, Essie Cartrette, Alene McPherson, Pauline Blackman, Ruby Colton, Sadie Chandler, and Myrtle Todd.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church, Chadbourn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11 AM in the Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church, Chadbourn.  Burial will follow in the McPherson Cemetery, Chadbourn.
