Willis Stead Hyatt, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 21, 1935, in Chadbourn, a son of the late Franklin Leo Hyatt and Nancy Jane (Brigman) Hyatt.
He is survived by one son, Stanley Hyatt of Clarendon; one daughter, Renee (Mark) Collins of Clarendon; one sister, Loris McPherson of Chadbourn; three grandchildren, Crystal (Ronnie) Ward of Whiteville, Calvin (Misty) Keisler of Clarendon, and Reegan Hyatt of Clarendon; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda (Greene) Hyatt, in 2014; a daughter, Neiga Hyatt; three brothers, R.C. Hyatt, Sr., Eugene Hyatt, and Levon Hyatt; and three sisters, Nora McPherson, Ima Jean Townsend, and Virginia Mincey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Clarendon, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Sweet Home Baptist Church.
