Thomas "Tom" Howard Edwards

Thomas “Tom” Howard Edwards, age 83, of Tabor City, NC, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.  Born January 12, 1940 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Daniel Elijah Edwards and Nettie Strickland Edwards and widower of Mary Elizabeth Ward Edwards.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Edwards Jernigan (Marshall Gore) of Tabor City, NC, and April Edwards Taylor (Shayne) of Garner, NC; one brother, David Edwards, Sr. of Locust, NC; two sisters, Martha Worthen of Charlotte, NC and Libby Peacock of Charlotte, NC; and two grandchildren, Kamryn Shaye Taylor and James Thomas “J.T.” Taylor.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Bud Edwards, and Daniel Phillip Edwards; two sisters, Dorothy Coleman and Sadie Breneman; and son in-law, Lennox Jernigan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Myrtle Green Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
