Shirley Ann Buffkin, age 76, of Tabor City, NC died Sunday, January 17, 2021 in her home. Born August 27, 1944 in the Sandy Plain Community, she was the daughter of the late Henry Buck McDowell and Dorothy Hewett McDowell.

She is survived by one son: Jamie Lee Buffkin of Butler, TN, three daughters: Robin Lemonds (Jim) of Tabor City, NC, Gwen Cartrette of Tabor City, NC and Jessica Saurina (John)of Tabor City, NC; six grandchildren: Holly Strickland, Jerod Strickland, Naomi Cartrette, Johnathan Cartrette, Jordyn Saurina, Marcus Saurina; five great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Strickland, Temberli Phipps, Peylin Phipps, Terryn McPherson and Violet McPherson; two that she loved and treated as her own grandchildren: Taylor Helms and Kenneth Helms.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Jerry Buffkin; two brothers: Harlee McDowell and James Verlon McDowell; one sister: Pearlease McDowell; and one granddaughter: Summer Dawn Cartrette.

She was a member of Mt. Beulah Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she played the piano and loved to sing.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Sandy Plain Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
