Robert Watson Obituary

Robert “Brent” Watson, 43, of Sunset Beach, NC, departed from this world on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Grand Strand Medical Center. Born on November 18, 1980, in High Point, NC, he was the cherished son of Dennis (Lori) Watson of Randleman, NC and Dana Watson of Gibsonville, NC.

As part of the class of ’99, Brent attended Trinity High School, in Trinity, NC. Following his education, he delved into the realm of digital x-ray technology, igniting a career journey that led him through Merry X-ray and Health Tech of Wilmington, NC. Eventually, his entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he co-founded B&B X-ray alongside his beloved fiancée, Bobbie Barrett, who survives him.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Brent's heart bled blue for Duke University, a devotion he even extended to a canine companion, Duke. When not cheering on his favorite team, Brent found solace in the tranquil art of saltwater surf fishing, savoring the simple joys of the ocean. A favorite meal consisted of fresh oysters, spots, great northern beans, and rice, good food that embodied his love for coastal living.

Music was another of Brent's passions, particularly country and bluegrass melodies that stirred his soul. Classics like "Elvira" by the Oak Ridge Boys, "Country Boy" by Ricky Skaggs, and "Rocky Top" by the Osborne Brothers were tops on his playlists.

Brent's family and friends were often the recipients of his creative talents as he made unique works of art with things such as sea shells and old wood, individualizing each piece to each person.

In addition to his parents, Brent is survived by his grandmother, Jonell Hooper, and his siblings: Jeremy (Jill) Watson, Ritchie Jones, and Melissa Jones Taylor. He also leaves behind his step-siblings Amber Tate, Candice (Reid) Terrell, Chad (Rachel) Trogdon and his uncle Tim (Maurice) Watson, along with his nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, relatives, and dear friends who loved and cared for him deeply.

Brent now joins his paternal grandparents, Don and Sally Watson and maternal grandfather Bert Morris, in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held at the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 3:00 PM.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the chapel. Brent will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City, NC.

Though Brent's physical presence may have departed, his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, joking spirit, and unwavering love will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorial donations may be made to the Duke Liver Center General Research Fund or the American Liver Foundation or any drug addiction recovery support charity of your choice.
