Oscar Odell Hinson, age 83, of Chadbourn, NC, died Monday, September 20, 2021 in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.  Born October 10, 1937 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Alvie Devine Hinson and Eva McPherson Hinson and the widower of Clara Pearl Norris Hinson.

He is survived by two sons: Alvie Dale Hinson (Malinda) of Chadbourn, NC and Kevin Allen Hinson (Linda) of Tabor City, NC; three sisters: Hazel H. McPherson of Chadbourn, NC, Reba H. Newman of Whiteville, NC and Margie H. Izzo (Anthony) of Tar Heel, NC; three grandchildren: Sarah Dawn H. Hinshaw (Bayne), Isaac Hinson and Jacob Hinson; two great grandsons: Beau Hinshaw and Nash Hinshaw; three step grandchildren: Michael Jeramie Clemons, Brian Elbert Clemons and Melissa Lynn Clemons; and several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Kenneth Ray Hinson; two sisters: Agnes H. McPherson, Ruth Jean H. McPherson; one brother: Edgar Devon Hinson. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.

A graveside services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 12:30 PM in the Hinson Cemetery.
