Calabash, NC
Monnie Mae Long Williams McLamb of Calabash, NC, left her earthly life on December 10, 2025, at Coastal Pointe Assisted Living of Shallotte, NC, after a brief illness. Monnie was born August 24, 1934, as the third of five daughters of John Wilson Long and Edna Mae Gore Long of the Bethel Community in Columbus County. Her parents preceded her in death.
In 1955, Monnie married William (Bill) Williams II of Tabor City. They had two daughters before Bill was killed in a tragic automobile accident in 1965. Monnie and her daughters survived these difficult circumstances with the love and support of dear friends and family members.
In 1971, Monnie married Robert Jerry McLamb of the Calabash area. Her daughters loved Jerry and were excited about having a new male figure in their lives. Jerry passed away in 2003.
Monnie is survived by her daughters, Melissa Mae Williams Johnson (Ron) of Whiteville, NC, and Amy L. Williams Bennett (Henry) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; two sisters, Nell Long Buffkin of Tabor City, NC, and Gayle Long Ward (David) of Wilmington, NC; four granddaughters, Brittany Bennett Truesdale (Joshua), Tiffany Marie Bennett, Rebecca Lynn Bennett, and Stacy Bennett Vera (Raul); and one great grandson, Conor Bennett Truesdale.
Before Monnie’s mother passed away in January 2000, she identified each daughter with a flower and stated that she had grown her own bouquet of flowers. Monnie became her daisy partly because daisies grow in clusters and Monnie enjoyed a cluster of descendants!
Funeral services for Monnie are scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, NC, with burial to follow in the Myrtle Green Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends in the chapel beginning one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice. That is what Monnie wanted.
A service of Inman Ward Funeral Home & Crematory of Tabor City, NC.
