Martha Lou (Hilbourn) Elliott

Martha Lou Hilbourn Elliott, age 89, of Tabor City, NC, died Thursday, August 24, 2023 in her home.  Born June 6, 1934 in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Hilbourn and Leatha Edwards Hilbourn and the widow of Robert Vance Elliott, Jr.

She is survived by one son, Garel Gene Elliott of Nichols, SC; three daughters, Pansy Kay Lawson and husband Mickey (Makayla Young, Brantley Stack) of the home, Cheryl Elliott Shepherd of Fair Bluff, NC, and Cynthia Elliott Barnhill of Fair Bluff, NC; twelve grandchildren, Wendy Bell, Curtis “Benji” Elliott, Malisa Russ, Jamie Elliott, Clay Britt, Crystal Damron, Ryan Young, Jennifer Phipps, Ronald Elliott, Derrick Elliott, Bradley Barnhill, and Jessica Barnhill; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Reba Nobles, Rebecca Burch and Mary Britt, all of Lexington, NC; and one daughter-in-law, Debbie Elliott of Nichols, SC. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Carlton Ray Elliott, and Randolph Elliott; two grandsons, Jeremy Elliott and Kenny Barnhill; four brothers, Dewey Hilbourn, Paul Hilbourn, Hubert Hilbourn, and Oliver Hilbourn; and three sisters, Frosty Edwards, Snowy Hammonds, and Dorothy Strickland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
