Larue Sasser Stocks age 97, of Tabor City died Saturday, March 29, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Columbus County, NC on July 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jabe and Elvanie Simmons Sasser.
She is survived by her children, Agnes Cox of Tabor City, NC, Estalene Marlowe (Dana) Winford Stocks (Tina) of Tabor City, NC, William Stocks of Shallotte, NC.
One sister, Ruth Hahn of Virginia, seven grandchildren, Lori Cumbe (Jack), Wesley Cox, Shane Marlowe, Neil Stocks (Amy) Chassica Ward (Joseph) Skyler Stocks, Meadow Stocks, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, OV Stocks, three brothers, Herman Sasser of Laurinburg, NC, Elbert Sasser of Elizabethtown, NC, and Leo Sasser of Milwaukee, WI, two son- in-laws, Devon Long of Nakina, NC and Marston Cox of Tabor City, NC.
Larue was a devoted member of Dulah Baptist Church and found great comfort and strength in her faith. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family and friends. Her unwavering love, kindness, and selflessness were the cornerstones of her life. Her home was always filled with delicious meals, and the comforting presence of her nurturing spirit. Her family was her greatest joy, loving mama, grandma, and great grandma. She was loved by all who knew her and her family will miss her greatly, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 3:00pm in the Dulah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Krista Hardee, Emma Ward, David Kelly and Amanda Gay of Liberty Hospice for their care and support thru this journey.
