Obituary

Chadbourn, NC

John Wesley Cartrette, age 75 of Beaverdam, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, Whiteville, NC. Born in Chadbourn, he was a son of the late William Albert Cartrette and Agnus Mae (Hardie) Cartrette.

He was a cabinet builder with Hinson Cabinet Shop and worked with the maintenance department for the City of Whiteville.

He is survived by one sister, Josephine Cartrette and one half-sister, Doris Dudley, both of Chadbourn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Earl Cartrette, and one half-sister, Elouise McPherson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 31 in the Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church, with Preacher Buddy Seay officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
