John Monroe McDowell

John Monroe McDowell, age 95, of Clarendon, NC, died Saturday, November 23, 2024 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.  Born October 8, 1929 in Dillon County, SC, he was the son of the late Monroe McDowell and Ella Belle Alford McDowell.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald McDowell and wife Becky of Clarendon, NC and Danny McDowell and wife Margaret of Nakina, NC; three daughters, Bonnie Nealey of Clarendon, NC, Linda Clark of Clarkton, NC, and Paula Pease and husband Michael of Shallotte, NC; one sister, Elsie McAuley of Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanchie Mae Fowler McDowell; three brothers, Marshall McDowell, James McDowell, and Joseph McDowell; seven sisters, Ada Barnhill, Letha Saber, Bernice Hall, Maggie Ammons, Eudell McDowell, Francis Guagliardo, and Earline Scott; son in-law, Bennie Nealey; one grandson, Jeremy McLamb; and one great grandson, Austin Rylee Brinson.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Stanley Cemetery, Mollie Rd, Clarendon, NC.

The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
