J G Strickland, age 96, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 in his home.  Born May 12, 1930 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Yatesy Strickland and Ora Bly Prince Strickland.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War.

He is survived by one son, Terry DeWayne Strickland (Linda) of Tabor City, NC; one daughter, Patty Strickland of Tabor City, NC; one sister, Eva Lee Fairfax of Texas; three grandchildren, Amber Williamson, Ashley Buffkin, Bradley Strickland; and one great grandchild, Braxton Evans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fleeta Strickland; one daughter, Cora Mahoney; and two brothers, Elbert Strickland and Douglas Strickland.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Myrtle Green Cemetery.
