Ira "Bill" William Edwards

Ira “Bill” William Edwards, age 88, of Newport News, VA, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 31, 1937, in Avery County, NC, he was the son of the late Glennwood B. Edwards and Ruth Virginia Vance Edwards.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served his country. 

He is survived by one son, Robert "Danny" Edwards and wife Sherri of Hampton, VA;  two daughters, Sherry Riffe and Wayne of York County, VA., Diane Oliver of Williamsburg, VA; two granddaughters, Kristen Edwards, and Kaitlin Edwards; two grandsons, Justin Edwards, and Wayne Allen Riffe II, and wife Erika; fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Arnette Edwards.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 12:00pm in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City, NC, with military honors.
