Loris, SC
Helen Reece Graham, 85, of Loris passed on to her eternal home, Monday, May 11th, at Grand
Strand Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Tabor City, NC on
February 14, 1941 to the late Roy Caldwell Reece and Florence Kathleen Scroggs Reece Gore.
In her full life, she was an accomplished career woman, who enjoyed traveling the United States
and abroad. She was a trailblazer of her time, who upheld a strong work ethic until her last day
on this earth. She continued to work for herself as an insurance agent who, proudly, never lost a
client. She was a faithful member of her church, Harvest Church in Conway, who served on the
hospitality team each week, greeting everyone she met with a smile.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, C. Ray Reece, and two sisters, Ellen
Naomi Reece and Betty Reece Gore. She is survived by three sisters, Anna Reece Graham,
Kitty Gore Weldon and Shirley Gore Butler; two children, one grandchild, Shawn Graham, and
four great-grandchildren, many blood nieces and nephews, as well as a multitude of unrelated
nieces and nephews who, as you all know, lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Helen.”
She was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived each day with great
purpose. She filled her home with scripture verses and surrounded herself with reminders of His
love and mercy, showing Christ’s love to each person she met. Her life is a testimony of Jesus’
redemption and sacrifice.
“Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus
Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, and it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not
be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body,
whether by life or by death. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:18-21
Memorial services will be held at Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City, at 4:00pm in the
afternoon on Sunday, May 17th with Dr. Joshua Sorrows officiating. The family will receive friends
at 3:00pm prior to the service in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Helen’s memory to
organizations she faithfully supported, including Open Hearts Community Outreach in Loris, SC,
or the Harvest Church Youth Mission Fund in Conway, SC.
