Harry James Nelson, age 72, of Tabor City, NC died Friday, March 1, 2024 in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC.  Born April 19, 1951 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Louis James Nelson, Jr. and June Esther Weaver Nelson.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp where he served for 26 years before retiring.  He also was a member of DAV, Disabled American Veterans, and a member of University Baptist Church in Conway, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Mae Joyce Nelson of the home; two daughters, Cathaleen Graham (Byron) of TN, and Twana Culbreth (Richard) of Shelby, NC; three brothers, Samuel Nelson of Baltimore, MD, Leroy Nelson of Baltimore, MD, and Norman Nelson of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Kathaleen Knight of Havelock, NC; and four grandchildren, Trista Graham, devon Graham, Cayne Bailey, and Alexa Bailey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
