Fred D. Strickland, Jr., age 85, of Clarendon, NC, died Monday, June 24, 2024 in his home. Born on December 17, 1938, in New Hanover County, NC, he was the son of the late Fred Doris Strickland, Sr., and Grace Gladys Hardie Strickland. He was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include son, Jon Strickland (Kendra) of Clarendon, NC; three daughters, Rhonda Edwards (Ricky) of Cottageville, SC, Wendy Tyree (Robin) of Whiteville, NC, and Julie Walker (Reggie) of Clarendon, NC; five grandchildren, Kenley Strickland, Cruz Strickland, Trevor Tyree, Heather Godwin, and Ricky Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Landry Godwin, Grayanna Godwin, Blake Nobles, and Bayleigh Edwards; sister, Doris Gore of Tabor City, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Grainger Strickland; brother, Henry Strickland; two sisters, Margaret Strickland and Katherine Deloch.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.
