Elwanda Norris Ard, age 89, of Green Sea, SC, died Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in her home. Born September 22, 1935 in Horry County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Norris and Ora Mae Powell Norris and the widow of Ellie Ard.
Ms. Elwanda was a member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church. She loved to travel with her husband Ellie and friends, Tommy and Barbara. Later she and her daughter traveled together. She especially loved the North Carolina Mountains. She was a loving mama, Grandma, and Memaw. She was loved by all. Her family will miss her greatly but have beautiful heart filled memories to keep them going.
She is survived by four children, Betty Jean Hilbourn of Whiteville, NC, Wanda Kay Jacobs of Lexington, SC, Barry Craig Ward of Travares, FL, and Mickey Dean Ward of Green Sea, SC; two step children, Ronnie Ard of Lake City, SC, and Susan Ard of Lexington, SC; nine grandchildren, Michael Ward of Nakina, NC, Chris Ward of Chadbourn, NC, Hope Mefford of Lexington, SC, Kevin Jacobs of Lexington, SC, Robin Brock of Leesburg, FL, Bobby Brock of Lakeland, FL, Wesley Ward of Green Sea, SC, Blake Ward of Longs, SC and Aubrey Skaggs of Ohio; eleven great grandchild and ten great great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Fialko of Crystal River, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Ward; one grandchild, Ashley McCartney; one brother, Worley Norris; two sisters, Lila Mae Fields and Shirley Burkette.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
