Lois Eleanor Ard Gibson Lewis, 90, formerly of Loris, SC and Lake Waccamaw, NC, died peacefully at her home November 1, 2022.
She was born in Georgetown, SC, August 12, 1932. Mrs. Lewis lived a joyous life of faith, love of family, and the gift of many friends. She was crowned Miss Andrews in 1950 and was past President of the St. Paul United Methodist Church Women’s Society in Tabor City, serving as a delegate to the United Methodist Conference. She also sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. She was a master gardener and decorator, was skilled in embroidery and sewing (making her own draperies and bedspreads), an avid Gamecock fan, and world traveler. She lived her life of Christian faith in service of her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois (Owens) Ard Long and William Marvin Ard, and stepfather Ronald Dale Long.
She was the widow of Ransom Hebert Gibson, Jr., having two surviving children, Theresa Gibson Cox (Steve) and Ransom (Randy) Herbert Gibson, III (Jennifer), widow of Arthur Weldon Lewis and survived by stepchildren, Betty Walden (Darrell) and Arthur Weldon Lewis, Jr., and widow of Bill Graham Page and survived by stepchildren, Rhett Page and Kecia Page. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ms. Marlene Monroe, a most loving caregiver and companion to Mrs. Lewis for many years.
A private service will be held Friday in the Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Loris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 410 E 5th Street, Tabor City, NC 28463.
