Earl Carlton “Mutt” McDaniels, age 88, of Green Sea, SC, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 5, 1936 in Mullins, SC, he was the son of the late Joe and Janie McDaniels.
“Mutt” grew up as a hard working determined young man who attended Military School. Through unwavering determination and dedication and personal sacrifice, he became a very successful farmer. Because of his success and achievements, farmers followed his lead in planting and harvesting. He was a true steward of the land. “Mutt” was the owner of the New Tabor Warehouse, GMC Grain, and J & M Insurance.
“Mutt” was a NBSC Board Member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed Nascar Racing. He loved planting huge vegetable gardens and sharing it with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Fowler McDaniels; four children, Melanie Stroud (Mitchell), Cyril Norris (Terri), Billie Jo Herring (Jason), and Brandy Causey (Shawn); eight grandchildren, Joseph Stroud, Adam Stroud, Taylor Norris, Jordyn Norris, J.R. Ham, Ashley Tiller, Bennett Causey and Jenna Grace Causey; eight great grandchildren, Kelan Stroud, Gia Stroud, Kirsten Causey, Kenley Causey, Naomi Ham, Eli Ham, Palmer Tiller, and Grant Tiller; two great great grandchildren, Waylon Small and Wilson Spring; one brother, Johnny McDaniels (Karen); two sisters, Faye Wright (Lloyd) and Sandra Fipps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lisa Norris; three brothers, Billy “Shot” McDaniels, Marion Earl “John Henry” McDaniels and Terry McDaniels; and three sisters, Eunice Carroll, Betty Swayne and Frances Gaskins.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Nichols, SC. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Happy Hearts or the Audio/Video Worship Experience 1950 Mt. Olive Church Road, Nichols, SC 29581.
