Derek Laverne Bass, age 26, died Monday, June 20, 2016 in the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.  Born July 19, 1989 in Horry County, he was the son of Marvin Laverne Bass of Tabor City and Bonnie Thompkins Guyton of Bladenboro.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife: Ashley Watts Bass of the home; one son: Tucker Bass; one daughter: Maeleigh Bass; one brother: Jeremy Bass of Tabor City; step father: Jeff Guyton of Bladenboro; step mother: Teresa Bass of Tabor City; maternal grandparents: Frances and Eston Thompkins of Tabor City.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Marvin and Betty Jo Buffkin Bass.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City.  Burial will follow in the Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
