Cleatus (Norris) Cartrette

Cleatus Norris Cartrette, 96, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Whiteville. She was born May 22, 1926, in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Azier Edmund Norris and Loudella (Skipper) Norris.

She is survived by three sons, Ray Cartrette (Nina) of Tabor City, Jerry Cartrette (Sue) and Larry Cartrette (Lena), both of Whiteville; three daughters, Brenda Babson, Deborah Batten (Raeford), and Dianne Walker (Lloyd), all of Whiteville; one sister, Patsy Ruth Hefner of Newton/Conover; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Garland “Dock” Cartrette, four brothers, three sisters, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 1 in the Inman Ward Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Buddy Seay officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 30 in the funeral home chapel.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice, and flowers are accepted as well.
