Carol Jean Gibson Hewitt, age 86, of Whiteville, NC, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 in Shoreland Healthcare, Whiteville, NC. Born February 5, 1936 in Bladen County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert Lonnie Gibson and Alma Mae Autry Gibson.
She is survived by two sons, Legrande Hewitt and wife Karen of Whiteville, NC and Dean Hewitt and wife Bobbi of Stokesdale, NC; one brother, Ray Gibson of Bladenboro, NC; one sister, Eula Mae Packer of Bladenboro, NC; special friend, Sue Galloway of Whiteville, NC; two grandchildren, Kelli Greene and husband David of Elizabethtown, NC and Chris Hewitt and wife Andrea of Winston Salem, NC; four great grandchildren, Parker Greene, Karlen Greene, Nell Hewitt and Hayes Hewitt; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wendy Jean Hewitt Davis; four brothers, Jack Gibson, James Gibson, W.L. Gibson, Buddy Gibson; and two sisters, Mattie Jane Feltwell and Christine Smith.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Bladen Memorial Gardens, Bladenboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abbottsburg Baptist Church, 309 Bradshaw Road, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
