Billy Ray Fowler, Sr. age 78, of Tabor City, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center, Whiteville, NC.
Born October 5, 1947 in Horry County, SC, he was the son of the late Herman Wallace Fowler and Isadell Floyd Cummings Fowler.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Diane Smith, Phyllis Ann “Susie” Suggs; one niece, Angela Charles; and one nephew, Dean Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Midge” Davis Fowler of the home; one son, Billy Ray Fowler, Jr. (Kristy) Tabor City, NC; two sisters, Janice Smith (Junior), Cindy Fernandez (Rolondo); four grandchildren, Hailey Worley (Dalton) Colby Fowler (Madison) Tatelyn Jackson (John), Jaiden Benton; seven great-grandchildren, Tuff, Ty, Wrenley, Gannon, Everleigh, Kashton, Ileta; and two brother in-laws, Rev. Kenneth Smith, and Jerry Suggs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM in Dulah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Dulah Cemetery, Tabor City.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
