Betty Merritt James age 79, of Tabor City, NC, died Saturday, June 7, 2025, in McLeod Loris Hospital, Loris, SC.

Born in Horry County, SC, she was the daughter, of the late Luther Leo Merritt and Betty Floyd Merritt.

She is survived by one daughter, Angela Lynn Buffkin (Walter) of Tabor City, NC, two sisters, Frances Ward of Loris, SC, Linda Nelson of Alabama, three grandchildren, Matthew Rabon, Aaron Buffkin and Jessica Buffkin and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Stevie Roy Buffkin, & Henry Norman James, two son, Steven Wayne Buffkin, Derrick Shane Buffkin, one daughter, Rebecca Ann Buffkin, three brothers, Jimmy Merritt, Lacy Merritt, & Kenneth Merritt, one sister, Diane Faulk.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00AM in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
