Barbara Jean (Phipps) Lanier

Barbara Jean Lanier, age 77, of Chadbourn, NC, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, Whiteville, NC. Born on March 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Rozier Clinton Phipps and the late Geneva Duncan Phipps.

She is survived by her grandson, Austin Oliver (Emma) of Chadbourn, NC; great-grandchild, Ivey Oliver of Chadbourn, NC; brother Roger Dale Phipps of Tabor City, NC; and step-mother, Mary Spivey Phipps of Tabor City, NC.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Waylen Franklin Lanier; daughter, Frankie Jean Lanier; and sister, Belinda McKinney.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM in Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Cribbtown Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
