Dearest Sylvia and family,
I am so saddened to read Harold's obituary but grateful that you all have had such a wonderful husband and father. Sylvia, it's 1:30 am and I woke up thinking about you and wondering about Harold. I came to face book and saw kind words of sympathy. I am so very sorry and will be praying for you all to experience the peace that only God can give during this time of grieving.

Was really saddened to hear of Mr. Hughes passing. Mr. Hughes was a real southern gentleman. I was honored to have the privilege of working with him and knowing him for many years. He treated everyone with dignity and respect and it was returned to him in kind. As an educator, he always wanted his students to succeed in life and provided the best example young people could get. He will be missed.

The Hughes family have always been special people. Harold gave back to his community in many, many ways. Tabor City is a better place because of Harold Hughes and I for one am a better person because I had the honor of knowing him and calling him a friend. My thoughts and family are with the entire family.

I always admired Harold Hughes. He was a fine man and a teacher. There is no way to know how many young lives he touched during his teaching career , but it had to be a lot. To Sylvia and the whole family------you are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find calm and peace and love during the following days. Love.

Mrs. Sylvia, Justin, Whitney, Jennifer, Ned and family,
Mr. Hughes was a friendly person who I am so glad I got to know. I will always remember seeing him on the red and white golf cart with Mrs. Sylvia going or coming from the Todd House.
Mr. Hughes impacted the Tabor City community in a might way. He was always a gentle talking person who I suspect would have walked a mile to avoid a conflict with anyone.
His legacy is his children. I am so glad to know the Hughes family because are fine, hardworking people. May God comfort the family as only HE can.
