Mr. Samuel Porcher “Shay” Smith Jr., age 76, of Forest Ave, Tabor City, NC, died Monday, October 8, 2018 in the McLeod Loris Hospital. Born April 26, 1942 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel Porcher Smith, Sr. and Emilie Howard Smith.
He is survived by his wife: Peggy Taylor Smith of Tabor City; one daughter: Grace Smith Ray and husband Lee of Tabor City; and one grandson: Taylor Nicholas Clemmons.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
Committal service will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11 AM in the Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29526.
