Sally (Grainger) Lancaster

 Tabor City, NC

 Sally Grainger Lancaster of 406 Fair Bluff Road, Tabor City, N.C., passed away Monday November 12, 2018 in her home.  She was the daughter of Franklin Walter Grainger and Flossie Alford Grainger.  Sally was born on May 16, 1930 in Loris, South Carolina. 

After graduating from Green Sea High School in 1947, she attended McLeod's School of Nursing. 

Her husband, Bryan Lancaster preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage.  A loving and faithful wife, Sally nursed her husband for seventeen years prior to his death. Strong in her faith, she was a kind woman who always thought of others.  She was a loving mother who taught her children Christian values.  She enjoyed entertaining and having friends and family for meals and special events.  Flower gardening and sharing flowers with others brought her great joy.  She was the epitome of an elegant southern lady.  She was a faithful member of the Tabor City Baptist Church and a member of the Rosa Garrell Circle and Glory Bound Sunday School Class. 

Sally was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and Clinton Grainger and two sisters, Naomi Vereen and Pearl Platt.  She is survived by twin daughters, Kay Rogers (Jeff) of Lumberton, NC and Day Land (Vance) of Hamlet, NC, one grandson, Bryan Raines Land (Christy) and one great grandson, Winston Raines Land of Rockingham and one great granddaughter, Ava Kennedy Land, and many special friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and  dear friends, Ted Lupo and Willa Ree Wilson Fowler.  A special thanks to Dr. Timothy Chuck Mills and her caregivers, Barbara Smith, Samantha Williamson, Lisa Watts, Raquel Kernon, Betty Lou Strickland, and Jennifer Caine.  A special thanks to Bennie Hemingway, a long time caregiver to the family. 

Memorials may be sent to Tabor City Baptist Church, 200 Live Oak Street, Tabor City, NC 28463 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472. 

The family will receive guests from 4-6PM Wednesday in the Inman Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City. The funeral services will be private by Dr. Jim Smith and Anthony Fipps .
