Oceana, WV

Robert James Cook, 80, of  Premier, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in McLeod Loris Hospital, Loris, SC.  Born March 7, 1937 in Oceana, WV, he was the son of the late Loran and Elsie May McKenzie Cook. He was a former coalminer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Mae Justice Cook; two brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by two daughters, Shawna Roberts and husband Kenneth of Loris, SC, and Lorana Peck and husband Terry of Tazewell, VA; two sons, Robbie Dewayne Cook of Welch and Robert James Cook Jr. and wife Buffy of Premier; three brothers, Jerry Cook of Princeton, Johnny Cook of Roderfield and Will Cook of Mean, Ark.; five sisters, Lorna Marie Dillon of Houston, TX, Shirley Faye Madden of Beckley, Jacqueline West of Columbus, OH, Margaret Cregger of Shady Springs, and Magel Stapleton of Beckley.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 23, at 11 a.m. in the Ark of Safety in Roderfield with the Revs. Johnny Akers and Gene Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Justice Family Cemetery in Panther.

Friends may call at the church today, Monday, after 6 p.m.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the family.
