Mrs. Rachel Opal Fowler, age 83, of Clarendon, NC died Sunday, February 24, 2019 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, Whiteville, NC. Born April 13, 1935 in Horry County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Pheniox Smith and Retha L. Ikner Smith Ward and the widow of Rudolph Fowler.
She is survived by seven daughters: Sandra Kay Simmons (Ray) of Clarendon, NC, Kathy Sue Coleman of Nakina, NC, Marilyn Rose Causey (Rodney) of Clarendon, NC, Pamela Opal Fisher (Kris) of North Augusta, GA, Babby Lane Hedwin (David) of Surfside, NC, Pennie Charlene Hill of Clarendon, NC, Kimberly Michelle Ward of Clarendon, NC; two sons: Jeffery Rudolph Fowler (Wendy) of Clarendon, NC, Jody Dean Fowler (Angel) of Nakina, NC; one brother: George Store of Texas; twenty one grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Amanda Lea Julian, Louise Wright and Gertrude Snoddy.
She attended Mission Valley Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 3 PM in the Mission Valley Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Memorial Cemetery.
