Luetta Hilburn Penny, age 88, of Chadbourn, NC, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center, Whiteville, NC.  Born January 14, 1931 in Horry County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Vance Lee and Nellie Rebecca Fowler Hilburn and the widow of the late James Devon Penny.

She is survived by her three sons: Jimmy Evans and wife Linda of Hallsboro, NC, Jerry Evans and wife Robin of Chadbourn, NC and Archie “Bucky” and wife Sissy Evans of Hallsboro, NC; three daughters: Pat Grainger and husband Ronald of Tabor City, NC, Crystal Norris and husband Timmy of Clarendon, NC, and Rose Nance and husband Sammy of Whiteville, NC;one step daugther: Wanda Canupp of Clarkton, NC; four brothers: Brice Hilburn of Troy, NC, Leon Hilburn of Loris, SC, Henry Hilburn of Waukesha, WI and Dale Hilburn of Tabor City, NC; four sisters: Gertie Spivey of Loris, SC, Vera Piver of Green Bay, WI, Eva Cox of Kingsman, AZ and Pearl Matthews of Hertford, NC; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Christopher Dean Evans; three daughters: Louise Nobles, Jean Cook and Debbie Wilson; one brother: Herman Hilburn; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Oak Dale Baptist Church Cemetery, Loris, SC.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
