Katie (McPherson) Spivey

Mrs. Katie Spivey, age 91, of Bell Street, Tabor City, NC, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center, Whiteville, NC.  Born January 5, 1927 in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Pink McPherson and Sally Jane Garrell McPherson and the widow of J.W. Spivey.

She is survived by two daughters: Janie (Richard) Cox of Whiteville, NC, Judy (Sammy) Williamson of Whiteville, NC; one son: Billy (Pam) Spivey of Tabor City, NC; six grandchildren: Lavelle Spivey, Tracy Ward, Dirk Spivey, Jamie Williamson, Jason Williamson, Ryan Cox; twelve great grandchildren: Stonie Spivey, Colton Spivey, Evan Ward, Brennan Ward, Owen Spivey, Cody Spivey, Nathan Cox, Cooper Cox, Conner Williamson, Ian Williamson, Kaelyn Williamson, Kendall Williamson; and two step great grandchildren: Kelsey Clark and Haley Clark.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one grandchild, Farah Cox, three sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 4:30 PM in the Tabor City Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
