Mr. Jimmie Robert Hewett, age 88, died Thursday, August 2, 2018, in the McLeod Loris Hospital. Born November 2, 1929 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Jimmie Edward Hewett and Maude Cannon Canady Hewett.
He is survived by his wife Norma Elnora Gore Hewett of Tabor City, NC; two sons: Jimmie Robert “Robbie” Hewett, Jr. of Tabor City, NC, Heath Ivan Hewett of Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter: Dawn Hewett Grubb and husband Dr. Stephen Grubb of Sunset Beach, NC; five grandchildren: Zachary Grubb, Stephanie Caragher, Brianna Hewett, Connor Dudney, Lucas Hewett; and two great grandchildren: Eli Caragher and Sloane Caragher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Jonathon Gore Hewett; one brother: Hedley Hewett; and one sister: Louise Cox.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2 PM in the Tabor City Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
