Ms. Janet Nell Turbeville, age 63, formerly of Tabor City, NC, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Panama City, FL.  Born April 29, 1954 in Mullins, SC, she was the daughter of Jennis and Patsy Adams Turbeville of Tabor City, NC.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of thirty five years: John Gwyn of Panama City, FL; two sisters: Karin Conner and husband Gene of Southport, NC, Marilyn Dowless and husband Buster of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; nieces: Jenina, Mary Elizabeth, Tabitha, Holly and Christie; nephews: Chris, John; great nieces: Elizabeth, Kalyn; and great nephews: Seth and Jackson.  She was predeceased by one sister: Patricia Kay Phipps.

Janet graduated with honors from Tabor City High School in 1972.  She attended University of North Carolina-Greensboro and graduated with honors from Troy State University-Dothan. 

Janet began her professional career with Army Aviation Federal Credit Union, Fort Rucker, AL serving in multiple positions.  Janet was driven and success oriented, her career culminating as President/CEO of Tyndall Federal Credit Union in Panama City, FL.

Janet’s interests included sailing and gourmet cooking with all of her friends and family.  She never met a stranger and everyone was welcomed. 

Janet’s passion for animals led her to become a Foster Parent for Florida Dachshund Rescue.  Her big heart brought several into her home and filled her life with joy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Dachshund Rescue (FLDR.org).                                                                                                                                                        

Her family and friends would like to thank the wonderful people at Covenant Care.

Visitation will be in Panama City, FL at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 in the Gapway Baptist Church in Tabor City, NC.
