James Dawsy “JD” Spivey Jr., age 89, of Clarendon, NC, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center, Whiteville, NC.
He was born in Columbus County, NC and was the son the late James Dawsy Spivey and Beulah Wright Spivey.
He is survived by his wife: Martha Lene Rockwell Spivey of the home; one daughter: Darlene McDowell and husband Chip of Wake Forest, NC; and one son: James Terry Spivey of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Spivey and Horace Spivey; and one sister: Inez Spivey Gainey.
He was a retired veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand.
He was a member Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his family and church.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery, Clarendon, NC.
