Darthy Mae Summersett, age 91, of Whiteville, NC, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2018, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville, NC.
Born November 19, 1926 in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Noah Hardwick and Annie Ronnie Russ Hardwick and the widow of James Eli Hardee and Homer Lee Summersett.
She was a long time member of Poley Bridge Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and the home church. She enjoyed her family and spending time in her yard as health permitted. She was a retired employee of Roses Department Store.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda Carol Prince (Ed) of Whiteville, NC; one son: Lee Summersett of Lumberton, NC; one step daughter: Sylvia Ann Hobbs; and two grandchildren: Tammy Morton, Michael Edward Prince; three great grandsons: Conner, Colin, and Carson Morton; two step grandchildren: Harry Miles (Ashley), Miranda Miles; and six step great grandchildren: Trey, Sam, Julia, Emma, Kilen and Amelia.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one infant son: Bruce Garry Hardee; four brothers: Darcy Hardwick, George Orby Hardwick, Elbert Ray Hardwick, Clarence Hardwick; four sisters: Mable Johnson, Inez Stewart, Aline Evans, Juanita Sasser.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3 PM in the Poley Bridge Missionary Baptist Church in Nakina, NC by Rev. Glenn Lane and Rev. Ricky Parker. Burial will follow in the McKeithan Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
