Benjamin Samuel Hinson, Jr., age 74, of Clarendon, NC, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  Born July 18, 1945 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Samuel Hinson, Sr. and Connie Norris Hinson.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Lou Soles Hinson of the home; one daughter: Betsy Hinson and husband Keith Patterson of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sons: Benjamin “Benji” Samuel Hinson III of Clarendon, NC and Robert Earl Hinson of Clarendon, NC;; two brothers: Joseph Hinson and wife Bonnie of Chadbourn, NC and Brooks Hinson of Chadbourn, NC; one sister: Shirley Nealey of Chadbourn, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Carrie Hardee and Rose Hazelwood; and one brother Charles Hinson.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served proudly on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War.  He was employed by Ridgeland Federal Paper /International Paper for forty years.  He was also a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church, Clarendon, NC.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Nobles Cemetery, Chadbourn, NC with Military Honors.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
