Tabor City, NC

Mr. William D. Wright, age 66, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in the McLeod Hospital, Florence, SC.  Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Lonnie Dolphus Wright and Maggie Porter Wright Simmons.

William was an educator, beginning his career at Green Sea High School as a teacher and coach.  He taught and served as assistant principal at Tabor City West Elementary School and was assistant principal at East Columbus High School and West Columbus High School.  William was principal of Acme-Delco Middle School, Evergreen Elementary School, Tabor City Middle School, Boys and Girls Home School, and Cerro Gordo Elementary School.

William was a member of New Life Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne McKee Wright of the home; one daughter, Adrienne Wright Carroll (Trevor) of Burgaw, NC; one son, Colby Grant Wright (Allison) of Monticello, IL; two brothers, Steve Allen Wright of Tabor City, Johnny Steadman Wright of Green Sea, SC; two grandchildren, Alaina Carroll and Molly Carroll.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Wright, and step father, Charles Simmons.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6 PM - 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2 PM in the New Life Baptist Church, Tabor City, NC.  Burial will follow in the Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
