Verbee Cribb Cartrette, 84, of Peacock Road, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.               

She was born April 23, 1932 in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Dow and Vernie Duncan Cribb.

Survivors include her daughters, Margie Carol McLeod of Green Sea and Mollie Cartrette of Laurel Hill; sons John Cartrette of Gibson, NC and Joseph Cartrette of Whiteville; sisters Monnie Turbeville of Whiteville, Rosa Walton of Lexington, NC, and Geneva Ward of Whiteville; brothers, Oliver and Billy of Lexington, NC, Bobby, Pete, Mitchell, and Jerry of Whiteville, Elgin of Ash, NC, and Perry of Tabor City; 30 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ransom Seymour Cartrette, her children, Delane, D.J., Richard, Charles Ray, Dow Thomas, and a brother, J. T. Cribb.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18 in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City, with burial in McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
