Mrs. Ruthene is now with her beloved husband Bro. Brooks. We at Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist church, Bladenboro, NC are a blessed people for having them in our midst. Even after Brooks passed away she would often come over to revival services. We loved her and Bro. Brooks and we love the family. May God take each one of the family up in His arms and hug them with all the love He has to offer and carry each one of you on forward until we all get to heaven. Only then will we know the full extent of the lives that Brooks and Ruthene Syskes touched.

Gary, Glenda, & Family
Ya'll have our deepest condolences in this time of sorrow. But I also want ya'll to know that I truly believe that Mrs. Ruthene just wanted to be with the love of her life that the good Lord gave her all those many many years ago. I believe that Mr. Brookes wanted her there in heaven with him for he truly has missed her so. So I believe that the Lord granted them their one last wish of being together by calling her home to his house to be with ya'lls daddy. I know that it is very hurtful to let go of your mama like this but ya'll should remember why she's gone. To be with your daddy and our heavenly father, Jesus Christ. In that we should all rejoice as I heard Rev. Brooks say a many a time, because in Jesus we never die but have everlasting life. Mrs. Ruthene and Rev. Brooks have just passed from our earthly plain to their rightful place , in the heavenly house of our Lord and only one true God, Our heavenly Father. The Lord had seen that their job here on earth was finished so he just called upon them to come home to him so that they may continue to help others else where understand and learn the word of God. The day she passed, that glorious rainbow that appeared was the Lord's way of saying that they were both with him in his kingdom and that ya'll should not have anymore sorrow or woe. But he also understands that he made us human and we tend to feel those emotions anyway. He gave us the loce in our hearts to love one another in life as well as in passing. And the Lord knows that ya'lls parents were and still are loved by a lot of people. They were and are two of the greatest people I have ever had the privilege and honor to have known in my lifetime. I love you all and I pray that God lays his hands on each and everyone of ya'll so that ya'll may find peace in your hearts in knowing that she is where she wants to be. They loved their family dearly but they love their Lord more. And I hope and pray in my heart also that ya'll feel the same in ya'lls hearts. Always put the Lord first and he will do the same to you. God bless ya'll and keep ya'll in his loving embrace. If ya'll need something let me know via Marie or just ask her for my nimber and call me directly. I love each and everyone of ya'll and I shall keep ya'll in my prayers.

Gary, Melissa and family,

I just got to know Mrs. Ruthene in the last couple of months while helping with the 1967 Tabor City High class reunion. She was a sweet person who loved God with all her heart. I remember her saying when she passed on to be happy for she would be rejoicing with Jesus. May God give each and everyone comfort and peace. The world has lost a dear saint.
