Tabor City, NC

Mrs. Mary Lucille Monroe Smith, age 91, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Premier Living, Lake Waccamaw.  Born September 28, 1925 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Osley Jacobs Monroe and the widow of Leo Franklin Smith, Sr.

She is survived by three sons: Rev. Kenneth (Diane) Smith of Tabor City, Leo (Janice) Smith, Jr. of Tabor City, Paul (Gloria) Smith of Calabash; one daughter: Patricia Fowler of Tabor City; three brothers: Bill Monroe of Charlotte, Roy Monroe of Charlotte, Joe Monroe of West End, NC; six sisters: Lottie Chappell of Georgia, Margaret Thomas of Raleigh, Hester Combs of Aberdeen, NC, Edna Voncanon of West End, NC, Pat Perry of Southern Pines, Jean Harris of Raleigh; fourteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Terry Franklin Smith, Franklin Lavon Smith; one daughter: Brenda Smith; three brothers; one sister; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Dulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
