Tabor City,

Mrs. Letha McDowell Smith Saber, age 103, died Monday, August 29, 2016 in her home.  Born December 30, 1912 in Dillon County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Monroe McDowell and Ella Belle Alford McDowell.

She is survived by two sons: Cecil Smith of Clarendon, Carlisle H. Smith of Hampton, VA; one brother: John Monroe McDowell of Clarendon; two sisters: Elsie McCauley of Milwaukee, WI, Bernice Hall of Clarendon; thirteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: James Howard Smith and Lawrence Saber; four brothers; five sisters; and one great granddaughter.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 3 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
