Tabor City, NC

Mr. Howell Elmer Caines, age 87, died Friday, June 17, 2016 in the McLeod Loris Hospital. Born November 4, 1928 in Horry County, he was the son of the late Zenus D. and Zemma Fowler Caines.

He was a graduate from Tabor City High School and East Carolina University. He was a Life Time Educator in public schools.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Annie Laura Gore, Alta Caines; four brothers: Rio Caines, Rodney Eldridge Caines, Armegy Hudson Caines, Judson Caines.

He is survived by three nieces: Hilda Gore Johnson (Donnie) of Loris, SC. Katherine Melton (Robert) of Summerville, SC. June Overton (Charles) of Tabor City, NC; five nephews: Royce Gore of Tabor City, NC Clifford Gore of Tabor City, NC Leonard Gore of Tabor City, NC Richard Caines of Tampa, FL, Eldridge Caines of Charleston, SC.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Old Zion Cemetery, Tabor City.
