Mr. Bobby Neal Stanley, age 81, of Clarendon, NC, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Whiteville, NC.  Born October 15, 1936 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Neal Monroe Stanley and Venia Richardson Stanley.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia Ann Hughes Stanley of the home; one son: Christopher Neal Stanley and wife Stephanie of Raleigh, NC; two daughters: Karen Stanley Bullard and husband Clay of Camden, SC, Michelle Stanley Maultsby and husband Shane of Leland, NC; one brother Richie C. Stanley (Kathy) of Goodyear, AZ; four sisters: Vivian S. Hughes (George) of Raleigh, NC, Nancy S. Hubbard (David) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Phyllis S. Williams (Richard) of Kinston, NC, Cynthia Stanley of North Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren: Meghan Stanley Wollman and husband Billy, Joshua Neal Stanley, Peyton Bullard Bruhjell and husband Erik, Brittany Lauren Bullard, Erin Leigh Maultsby, Neal Thomas Maultsby; and one great grandchild: Hudson Aldret Bruhjell.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother: Larry Monroe Stanley.

He married his only true love over 54 years ago and ultimately he and Pat settled on the family farm. Throughout his life he was a farmer, even when he was in other occupations. He lived his dream and followed his calling through farming, loving his family and sharing his faith.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. From 1961 to 1975, he worked at Columbus Trading Company in Chadbourn, NC.  He was a Ruritan Member and served as a Zone Governor.  From 1976 to 1997 he was a full time farmer.  He served as Church Training Director with the Columbus Baptist Association.  He served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher at Clarendon Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member and servant of his Lord and Savior.  He worked as a supervisor for the Columbus Soil and Water Conservation District.  He was the 2008 President of the North Carolina Association of Soil and Water Districts and a member of the Soil and Water Foundation.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2 PM at Clarendon Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Columbus Memorial Cemetery, Whiteville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472 or Clarendon Baptist Church, 2326 Sidney Cherry Grove Rd., Clarendon, NC 28432.
